Summer Camp

    📅 June 22-28, 2025 | 📍 Camp Rodney – North East, MD

    Summer Camp at Camp Rodney is the highlight of the year! One full week of adventure, skills, and unforgettable memories on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay. Scouts will swim, sail, shoot, climb, and earn merit badges while making friendships that last a lifetime.

    💰 Costs & Deadlines

    • Deposit: $50.00 – Due by end of January (or upon joining the Troop)
    • Total Cost:
    • $585 if paid in full before May 1st
    • $615 if paid after May 1st

    📌 Important: All attendees MUST have a completed Medical Form!
    (And make sure it’s signed! Otherwise, your scout will be watching from the sidelines.)

    🛶 First-Year Scouts: The Brownsea Program

    If your Scout is new to summer camp, they’ll be part of Rodney Scout Reservation’s Brownsea Program, which is designed to help first-year Scouts advance quickly while having a blast.

    🌊 They will be swimming EVERY DAY, so be sure to pack a swimsuit (or three) and a bug net—trust us on that one!

    📦 What to Bring to Summer Camp

    Essential Gear

    • [ ] Sleeping bag – Summer-weight bag is fine
    • [ ] Sleeping pad – For extra comfort
    • [ ] Bug net – Most Scouts get a SansBug net on Amazon
    • [ ] Rope – To set up a clothesline for drying wet clothes
    • [ ] Towels (2-3) – One for showers, one for swimming
    • [ ] Scout Handbook – For rank advancements
    • [ ] Water bottle – Stay hydrated!
    • [ ] Daypack – To carry gear during the day

    Clothing

    • [ ] Class A Uniform – For the official camp photo!
    • [ ] Swim trunks – First-year Scouts will swim daily
    • [ ] Lightweight shirts & shorts – For hot summer days
    • [ ] Rain jacket or poncho – It will rain at some point
    • [ ] Extra socks & underwear – You don’t want to run out!
    • [ ] Hat & sunglasses – Protect against the sun

    Toiletries & Personal Items

    • [ ] Toothbrush & toothpaste
    • [ ] Deodorant – For the sake of everyone
    • [ ] Sunscreen & bug spray
    • [ ] Flashlight/headlamp – And extra batteries

    Optional, But Useful!

    • [ ] Camp chair – If you like sitting in comfort
    • [ ] Notebook & pen – Keep track of merit badge notes
    • [ ] Bike – For all NON-Brownsea Scouts
    • [ ] Scout spirit! – Bring a great attitude

    🎬 Thursday Night – Alumni Movie Night

    A longstanding Troop 105 tradition! On Thursday night, troop alumni will return for a movie night under the stars. Scouts who have aged out of the program come back to share stories, offer advice, and enjoy the fun.

    🏕 First-Time Parents: Should You Stay?

    We encourage first-time summer camp parents to consider staying for the whole week or at least the second half.

    Homesickness is a real challenge when Scouts are away for the first time ever, and having a parent there can make all the difference.

    🍽️ Parents’ Dinner – Friday Night Invitation

    All parents are invited to join us for dinner at camp on Friday night! This is a great way to:
    ✅ See what your Scout has been up to all week
    ✅ Meet other Troop 105 families
    ✅ Enjoy an evening at Camp Rodney
